Solo flight crash: Wings Aviation takes two innocent lives
Solo flight crash: This headline is a clear example as to why we started vebudo aviation because schools like this must not exist. Choosing the right flight school with tremendous training facilities and never compromising a students safety for any reason is vital. What happen is Hyderabad is a clear example, we have come across many schools like this and our goal always remains that our students always get guided into the right schools.
the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stripped the flying training organization (FTO) licence of New Delhi: Hyderabad-based Wings Aviation Pvt Ltd after a trainer aircraft belonging to wings Aviation took the lives of two innocent pilots on board. The training was supposed to be a solo flight done by a single trainee pilot on board with no exceptions for extra pilots.
suspiciously flying schools in India as well as abroad routinely send either trainee and trainer or two students on a solo flight in order to reduce the cost and ensure that their expensive planes are not flown by an amateur trainee pilot. This act being strictly illegal, DGCA chief Arun Kumar who is known for his zero tolerance for safety will not tolerate this in flight schools.
A day after the incident the regulator had issued a show-cause to Begumpet Airport-based Wings. Informing Captain Ranuk Cyril, the deputy chief flight instructor(CFI) of Wings Aviation to withdraw from his position due to this incident. After the confirmation that the deputy had approved and authorized the solo flight which actually had two pilots on board.
The DGCA issued the order after disregarding the unsatisfying reply of Wings aviation. “In the reply, no explanation has been given for the presence of (the other pilot who was not supposed to be on that solo flight). Whereas, an inspection of the Wings Aviation was conducted by a DGCA team (and) several deficiencies were observed,” the order issued by DGCA’s deputy DG Ashutosh Vasistha says.
The deficiencies concluded ” trainee pilots are not solo occupants of flight, which are logged as solo flights”- a disgusting practice spreading worldwide across unscrupulous flying schools. It also indicated wings not having “adequate qualified manpower… for maintaining their fleet (and) breath analyzer tests are not conducted (as per rules).”
“It is inferred that Wings Aviation Pvt Ltd has failed to maintain safe efficient and reliable training organization as required the Aircraft Rules 1937…. approval granted to Wings Aviation Pvt Ltd as FTO stands suspended from the date of issue of this order… until further orders,”the order says.
